Hi friend, I'm Michelle. My mission is to help you design and create the life and calling that you were meant to live, for you and the world.

I am the founder of Stylist School Online and the premier personal styling company, The Shopping Friend.

Myself and my businesses have been featured on CNN, CBS's Let's Make a Deal, Cosmopolitan, NY Post, Glamour, Red Book, CNTV, and What to Wear among others.

My businesses have allowed me to travel the world, make time for my family, and work from anywhere.

After years of working as a model and actress in NYC and LA, constantly struggling with how to make money between jobs, I began to hungrily crave flexibility, freedom, financial security, and working for myself in my life. It eventually became the primary vision for my life.

 

I DIDN'T START HERE. I started out just like you.

I was modeling and acting when I stumbled across my first personal styling client.

I didn't even know this was a job until someone asked me for my help. Then I realized that this was a solution to so many people's image and style issues and I could be of service to them and build an actual business.

So I worked with my first 5 clients for free and then put out a tiny free ad in New York City, advertising my services. From there I figured the rest out.

A couple years later I launched my first website. There were no personal styling courses at the time and I had no formal fashion training. I just went out there and figured it out.

Because I had no one to model myself after or to learn from, my learning curve was steep and full of mistakes.

I wasted years because I made so many mistakes.

Everything was trial and error for me. I didn't know what was going to work and what wasn't until I implemented it and observed the results.

Truth be told, the first three years of my business were painfully slow.

Today, you have a multitude of style and fashion schools to choose from. Unfortunately, most are taught by 'teachers' who've never built a business or even worked in the real world market. It's all theory. What you need is practical advice from someone doing the exact thing you want to be doing.

Not only am I a profitable personal stylist in real time, I've been training others for the last 7 years on how to do it because I have needed to hire stylists for my own business.

I have struggled to find good stylists who understand all elements of styling and business (even ones with "certifications") and decided to create my own courses and programs that teach the real deal.

My journey as an entrepreneur has been the hardest thing I've done in my life.

I'm not going to lie.

Figuring out how to make business work, make enough money to not only survive, but thrive, and work a schedule that truly has time freedom is difficult. 

But having my own business was the reason that I was able to up and move to Singapore when I met the love of my life (now my husband) without too much fanfare. It was so worth it. And doing what I do is incredibly rewarding, despite some of my darkest days.

I created this program to show you how I did it. Hopefully, to make it easier for you. There's a lot to becoming a personal stylist / fashion entrepreneur in this digital age, much more than just knowing how to dress someone flawlessly.
